newbie looking for input on 74-75\'s

Hi All,

Wanted to get input from you guys about the 74-75 K5's, ever since I saw one I've been in love with them, I really like the size/lines and the combination of back/cab off and rollbar. What is the general impression of the 74-75's in the k5 community? Are there any known issues or reasons why i might want to begin my search for my k5 with another year?

I really appreciate any/all input on this,

Thanks,

-Jim A.

73 - 75 are full convertables and would be a great blazer for you to get. Most parts are interchangable throuth 91 so you can mix and match parts. Welcome abord, I hope you find a good blazer. There are some on www.traderonline.com check it out

Re: newbie looking for input on 74-75\'s

I love my '74! When I began my search for a Blazer I had one main criteria it had to be '75 or older so the top would be fully removable. The top was off the day after I got it home and it's not been back on since.

Re: newbie looking for input on 74-75\'s

I've gotta 84', but my next or second K5 will be a 74'. You just gotta love the full top off!!!!

Re: newbie looking for input on 74-75\'s

excellent choice. i too only wanted a full convertible. so i got a 74. the only problem is that they are almost 30 years old now. major rust where i come from, and major repairs., but one day she'll be the talk of the town instead of winning ugly truck contests.

Re: newbie looking for input on 74-75\'s

You mean they made other year Blazers?? My 74 rocks I will probably end up buried in it

Re: newbie looking for input on 74-75\'s

Hey I'm new as well, got a 75 and I love it. I would recommend you get a 1974 since they came with an NP205, as opposed to the 203, but other than that I think theyre awesome. I wouldnt get any other year blazer (except a cst 69-72 duh), as I can't imagine not having a fully removable top, and theyre just freakin awesome. Good choice.

Re: newbie looking for input on 74-75\'s

Personally I'm partial to the full tops also and my 89 will someday get the 74 hard top put on that's sitting in my driveway. If I were you, I'd get a newer Blazer (preferably fuel injected) and chop the cab off of it, reinforce the body, place a 73-75 windshield frame on it and have a more reliable/rust-free full convertible Blazer. But that's just my $.02 /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Re: newbie looking for input on 74-75\'s

no as far as i know the only year that came with a 205 as standard equipment is 1980. if you order a 74 with a manual (465) tranny them i probably came with a 205. but 90% of 74's came with a NP203.

Re: newbie looking for input on 74-75\'s

Go to the specifications page and you can see that it was an option or should have went in, but my 74 has a 203 and I think they just threw in whatever they had lyin' around, which was most likely an over abundance of 203's

Re: newbie looking for input on 74-75\'s

74 was a odd year Exact oposite. They ALL had 203's even the 4 speeds. Well almost all had. some of the 4 speed trucks did have 205's.
80 is when they all had 205's.
