I just got my first Blazer. It is a 71 that has been mainly redone except for the suspension, tires and a cage. The suspension is stock and the rig has a 5.7 out of a 99' Chevy 2500. The front springs seem to have alot of sag and the ride is horrible. Is it common for the the springs to have what looks like a negative sag to them? What I mean is tha the ends of springs are at abuot the same height as the bottom of the axle. Like the letter n instead of the letter u like lifted springs. I am wondering this because I need to know how much lift to put on the truck.
I was told the truck has a 2" body lift. When I measure the lift spacers they measure 3" total. The rubber mounts only show a little on the bottom of the spacers and the stock spacers are not there. I measured between the bed and the frame and it is less than 3", more like 2.5". The body lift and all the hardware is new.
I want to run 35's. It has 33s now with a fain amount of clearance. If the springs are shot, would a 2" lift be enough to run 35's? I figure if they are as bad as they look I would gain 3"+ out of a 2" lift from where I am sitting now. I was unsure about going with a 4" and being too high and making the 35's look too small.
Sorry this is long but noone aroung me has a old Blazer. Alot of Broncos but none of these. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

The springs (if stock) probably have lost some of their height. The negative effect your talking about is normal. Some guys run 33's stock, but I dont see them wheelin' very much without fender trimming. Most are running 4" of lift with 33"-36" tires. Really a personal preference.

Yes it is commone for the the origonal leaf springs in the front to sag like that, Mine did to, so i put a four inch lift spring in the front and it looked to be like a 6 inch lift in front to what i was used to seeing because the sag was like two inches so it corrects the sag and adds the size lift you get and makes a huge difference, also a two inch lifts springs in front a a three inch body lift which it sound slike you have around there, you should be able to fit a 35 inch tires especially if you have a 33 on now and have space to spair, I ran a four inch lift and easily fit 35's could of goen to 36's

4" would be perfect for 35's, but loose the body lift they are nothing but trouble.
