Well I bought a van-width 14-bolt and thought everything from my my old 14 bolt would just drop in or bolt on. Everything was looking godd until I tried to put the hubs on. My old hubs would not work as they are about 1/2" longer overall and where the disc mounts are totally different. The new van 14 bolt came from a '98 and had the slide off drums and after a little research I found that they changed the hubs on these axles. Take a look at the pic; the old hub is on the right and the newer is on the left:

My problem now is where the disc mounts, there is quite a bit of difference. I don't know if I can move the caliper bracket enough so it will all line up. Has anyone run across this?? Is there some way to move the caliper bracket or a different bracket that may work?

thanks.

well im in the same boat as you, i have a 1999 van 14 bolt and the only kits i have found cost like 350 to 400 dollars, if you find anyway to do it on the cheap let me know

Is the hub machined true on the back side?

i did a disk kit on a pop off drum setup 14ff . never looked 2x on the hub on the back side. just set rotor on and hammered studs in. bolted brakets on. ran it 2 years no problems or vibes.

but sad part is he is nolonger in buissness.

so you can use the pop off drum hubs and set rotors on the back.

I know of one specific case where a rotor was put on the back of one of the newer hubs and the rotor cracked when the wheel was put on and torqued down.

Well this is what I ended up doing. I put the bracket and hub back on my axle then measured from the disc to the bracket. Now my old brackets were the ones with the 4 holes to bolt to flange, over the spindle, with some spacers. I cut the bottom of the bracaket off and 1 of the bolt holes so I could slide it over the axle. It now bolts on the opposite side of the flange on the new Van axle. I used a couple washers behind the bracket to get the same dimension to the disc as the old axle. Have'nt bolted the axle back in yet but I hope it is going to work. A couple pics:
