I pulled the dash pad down to find that I'll easily swap in the new 3.5s that I got.

However, there is merely the cut out for the speaker, but no speaker. Is there a coiled up wire in there somewhere that was put there stock for me to find, like Christmas? Or am I putting something in there new for the first time?

Thanks!

They all came with the center hole cut out, it just depended on if you had a MONO or STEREO headunit from the factory. I have never personally seen a MONO unit, but the speakers are in the corners of the dash, and they are something around 3.5 or 4in rounds.

Ok, so there are no wires there just waiting for a speaker, per se, that you know of?

There wasnt on my 83. The old 70s trucks had a 4x10 center speaker, just run two feet of speaker wire from the headunit up to the new center speaker your building. Will work just fine.

I replace my outter 3.5" speakers in the dash. Before I threw the old ones away I checked to see if both of them would fit in the center speaker hole. Sure enough they did. Now I have four speakers up front and then I had some 6x9's installed in the side panels between the front and back seats. It sounds pretty good.
