I've searched extensively and I've yet to find my exact issue. I was advised to start a new thread - so here we are...

Here's all the dirty details:

I purchased a 1983 K5 6.2 diesel about a month ago. When i bought it, none of the light in the rear of the vehicle functioned. All of my lights up front are functioning as they should with the exception of the side markers. Haven't seen those illuminated.

There is zero power making it to the light assemblies. I know that I have good sheet metal grounds on the light assemblies themselves. There is zero power to the wiring along the frame.
I've removed an old trailer wiring harness and everything is back in line as it should be.

At this point, I've reached the extent of my electrical knowledge. Help a rookie out?

I would follow the wires up the frame to the firewall junction, maybe there is a problem there. The wires are split up into sections, in connector bodies that hook together. Then the center bolt holds the halves together.
There is 4 power wires going to the rear harness, marker, left turn, right turn and reverse lights. To lose all 4 makes me believe that the connector is unhooked. This is based on the fact that you cleaned the grounds.

I concur, having nothing in the back means either plug disconnected or wires severed somewhere

Or possibly the body isn’t grounded properly up front. Any other electrical issues inside the cab?

Yes sir. Cleaned and tested with multimeter. I'll do my best to track down the area you're referencing and report back.

No sir. I do have very very dim instrument panel lights. Power to radio. Switch for rear window. All functioning properly.
Just no lights.
