np205 32 spline input gear questions

a local guy has a fig 8 short input 205 but i need a round pattern.
i have a round pattern 205 with a long input.

are the input gears directly swappable and equally useful afterwards?
basically with the long input on a figure 8 case, can i sell it as a good unit?

The long input needs the round adapter. The short input goes with the figure 8. A long input will not work with a figure 8 adapter.

The long & short inputs are a direct swap though. They both use the large input bearing.

only real reason to swap a short input in a round case is for a doubler kit needs.
