NP205- can't get it in, help!

it slides in and out, when you pull it out look at seals now would be the time to replace them

its the round thine the splines go to on both the output/input between the two

why is there grease on the bearing in the adaptor ? this faces the tranny fluid side . not good to mix them in auto .

and that's a early 205 adaptor with the support bearing on the coupler. it wont just slide out with out removing the bearing with it or removing the adaptor from the t-case then sliding the sleeve out the t-case end . as the sleeve is stepped for the bearing to seat on it.

Yeah I just coated it with grease so it wouldn't rust. I'll clean it up before I try it again. Looks like I'm back to pulling the tranny.

Unbolt the adapter from the face of the 205 and see if they whole thing will slide on. Don't have to pull the sleeve that way. It'll be way easier to manipulate than the whole case. This stuff generally fits and interchanges, there are no tricks to it.

Got it! Lots of pushing, turning, etc but it's on. There was only small, rubber-band-like gasket, so I put some gasket sealer around the edge.....hope that's ok, figured it couldn't hurt. We'll try to get it installed today.

Success! And we didn't have to drill a hole in the crossmember, looks like it was designed for both t-cases. I noticed that two of the crossmember bolts had collars with longer bolts, I assume to give it extra strength. Should all four have collars? Currently, they are staggered, one on each side.

All 4 should be long with those spacers. The spacers go on top of the frame.
