OK so when I get up to my normal cruising freeway speed in my 73 K20 I can hear my T-Case making noise. Between 2500-3000 RPM depending on hills and how late I am for work. I hear it coming from the shifter area. The fluid is good, clean, and plenty of it. Is this just the sound of an old gear driven T-Case?? Seems to be working fine!! Or should I start saving money for a rebuild?? :doah:

My brand new rebuild does that; I gather it's just the whine of the gears. Mine is louder in 4WD and/or low, of course, and is amplified by my lack of carpet or other noise proofing.

mine makes a grinding noize when i let off the gas. i hear its just the slop in the gears.

Mine only makes noise if I have something in the cab leaning on the shift lever, I'll also hear it if I push slightly on the lever while moving. Try isolating the lever with some rubber washers on each side of it, and that should clear up most of the whine
