NP205 noise at freeway speeds

OK so when I get up to my normal cruising freeway speed in my 73 K20 I can hear my T-Case making noise. Between 2500-3000 RPM depending on hills and how late I am for work. I hear it coming from the shifter area. The fluid is good, clean, and plenty of it. Is this just the sound of an old gear driven T-Case?? Seems to be working fine!! Or should I start saving money for a rebuild??

My brand new rebuild does that; I gather it's just the whine of the gears. Mine is louder in 4WD and/or low, of course, and is amplified by my lack of carpet or other noise proofing.

mine makes a grinding noize when i let off the gas. i hear its just the slop in the gears.

Mine only makes noise if I have something in the cab leaning on the shift lever, I'll also hear it if I push slightly on the lever while moving. Try isolating the lever with some rubber washers on each side of it, and that should clear up most of the whine

happy old 205 sound if you ask me. mine did it to.
