NP241 Questions - Will it fit???

I have a 1989 K1500 that I am getting ready to scrap. I am considering taking the transfer case out to have as a spare for my 1991 Jimmy. Are the two compatible? How much effort and time is it going to take to get the thing out? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The internals are proll all the same though
