I went to install my transmission yesterday. Advanced adapters call for a crossmember spacer that is 2.5" x 2.5" x 8".

I attempted to fit up the 71 crossmember that originally had a th350 and 205 and I'm miles away!

Would I be best getting a piece of tubing like I have but make it 6 inches longer? It does seem to be miles away from what I'd hope.

Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks!

Did you clock the t-case at all? (I'm betting you didn't)

Are you sure that's the crossmember that advance adapters is advising you on? Because with that trans mount and front driveshaft position you're probably better getting/making a crossmember that goes up and over the driveshaft rather than under it.

My suggestion is build yourself a new crossmember and put the loop over the output flange rather than under it.

Theyre solution seems to be rather half assed and has you loosing some serious under chassis clearance.

Stop saying the same thing at the same time :P

that spacer and a w member and newer style mount yes would prob work.

i got both styles of w members pm me if you need one.

I was able to use the stock crossmember you have shown there, but built up a section under the trans mount and clocked the transfer case up 2". If you have a CV front shaft, it should clear ok since it stick out over 6" before it starts dropping down to your diff.

I also have a second crossmember that does all the real support under the transfer case.

Put an ad out on craigslist last night. Guy emailed me that he had a Suburban with the crossmember W. He said its out of a TH400 and NP208. I'm going there after work to check it out!
