I did a search, and guess AA makes a 2" spacer to go between the two? IIRC I need a 205 off an 85 and newer 465 or TH400 version??? Anybody have the part number for that spacer?? Couldn't find it on their site...

They have a kit to adapt 4wd NV4500 to NP205, p/n is 50-0206. That's for a 32-spline figure 8 205 case.

If you get a round pattern 205 case, you can just swap a short 32-spline input into it and bolt them together, notch the flange on the NV4500 for the shifters and elongate one of the two bottom holes about 3mm toward the other one. Takes maybe two hours including the input swap and costs $125 for the input unless you find a deal somewhere.

I have the newer style 205 that's the round pattern, and can get (hopefully still there) the older figure 8 style t-case. A Ford should go on just as easily then shouldn't it??

looks like their kit puts the nv4500 to a figure 8, 32 spline np205. I believe that is the np205 from a th400. You can make a 10 spline np205 into a 32 spline with a 32 spline input and a different bearing and some machining. There is a bearing that you can use as well that eliminates the need for the machining but its use gets mixed results. The ford case will bolt in as well but has a different spline count. 31 splines i think. And of course the drop is on the driver's side which wont do you any good unless you are running a ford axle as well. This is one of those pay to play deals. You want something that was never offered in a stock form, then you have to pay.

I just notched the tail housing for the shift rails ,becasue AA didn't have the spacer for sell yet . I had a 4l80e to round 205 long input so I installed a short Th400 and bloted right up.

The AA spacer # 51-6910 .

That number doesn't come up on their site???

I have 2 205s, both are still bolted to the tranny's. One is a 400 version from an 82/83 truck, the other is a 465 from an 86. I guess I need the short input off the 400, and adaptor and tranny from the 86??

Only reason I thru the Ford in there, might run a HP44 over a GM. But that is still up in the air.

You have to ask for the spacer .

You don't need any adapter between the tranny and tcase if you have a round pattern case. The transmission tailhousing has an integral mount point and they bolt right together. Just notch the flange on the tranny to clear the inner shift rail.

The only downside to this is that the cast iron 140 pound 205 is hanging entirely on a 5/8" thick aluminum flange, make sure you keep the brace that bolts to the passenger side end of the 205 and adapt it to fit.

Here's a picture of my setup, I have a custom adapter because I only had a figure 8 case to work with, so the top 5 bolts on the case are used in the adapter and the custom mount I made bolts into both the transmission mount and the lower 3 bolts on the tcase. IMO it's by far the strongest setup. You do need the long input though, so you have to swap inputs anyway.

Hmm, that's pretty slick. I have both cases, so looks like I have all I need to get them to work. Now just have to wait till I get some money to get the 4500....
