OFFICIAL trails for BB10

Well, after my wife and youngest eavesdropped on the trip plans they have decided they are going to join me and my older daughter. I guess my wife figured it was gonna be drive to Moab, wheel and drive home.

Anyways, that means I'll probably make the trip a few days longer and stay for Sunday as well. We spent a while looking at the different trail descriptions, and so far everyone seems cool with the more scenery, less violence aspect. :D

So, Strike Ravine Friday, Chicken corners/Hurrah on Saturday...not sure on Sunday, it appears Tip Toe behind the rocks is about the only sheetmetal friendly run.

Ran Strike Ravine last year. The only problem we had was way-finding. We used the Wells' guide book, http://www.funtreks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1. I think we really only missed one section of the trail that would have been rough anyway so maybe it was a good thing. And we did a section that wasn't part of the trail at all. There were a couple of spots that required careful spotting to keep the sheetmetal clean from what I remember. However I will confess I'm a little less concerned about it, so my memory may be skewed. Maybe you'll find the cell phone that I lost on that trail last year.... :doah:

Don't forget, if a few of you guys want to do something else entirely Friday (or any other day) you can, you're just on your own.

Funny, considering I know you are, or at least were, in possesion of a couple of rocker guards.... :p:

I knew that would come up. They were donated to another vehicle.

"Really, I do not need them because I do not rock crawl."

Hmm There is a good chance i wont be attending so enjoy guys il cya on the trail sooner or later on the trails since i don"t have a rig anymore :doah:

what happened did yousell the truck to?

planning on it. finished welding rear end in sub just need to get the front end to work.

looking for the sheet metal friendlly trails too.

is most every body coming down thurs or friday?

I've been thinking more about Strike Ravine and the sheet metal guys. I know you could run the trail without damaging a truck, but there are a few spots where you'd have to pay attention to keep it clean. Last year we ran the trail with a K5 on 33's that was basically stock and he didn't have much trouble.

All that being said, my personal opinion is that Strike Ravine isn't a good trail for those looking for the "Moab Experience". It doesn't have the typical slickrock scenery that you would associate with Moab. I would hate for you all to travel so far and not get to experience a good trail with the scenery you are looking for. I have something else in mind that we could still set up for Friday. It would be an easy, scenic trail. Let me know if you'd be interested.

I'm interested. My main criteria is finding trails with nice scenery that offer some reasonable challenges, but don't require the wife and kids to get out and walk every 50 feet.

i am up for either trail.

i think i am going to head down friday.

speaking of bbq i could bring the smoker, hmm.

Yes, I'm interested in an alternative.

I recall the 'views' in that area were decidedly different than the rest of Moab when were there in '03 (Did Lower Helldorado and walked/watched/helped out on Upper Helldorado. Quite sandy and hardly any slickrock or real scenery.)

I think i'll be running Fins and Things on Thursday

Wouldn't mind running Strike ravine or poison spider on Friday

cliffhanger or Hells revenge on saturday

one of the az guys, Reddog, Blue 72 blazer on 42" pitbulls, is going to be there on Monday< I think, He is staying at slickrock, so if anyone wants to wheel with him then, he'll be there.

Scott - do we need to revisit the trail issue to add another easy one?
I was thinking about it. I was actually looking at Spring Canyon/Hey Joe Canyon. Sevenmile crossed my mind, but I was looking for one we hadn't offered yet.

Cathy and I will be arriving on Tuesday - staying at Moab Valley. We will probably go over to Grand Junction to see a friend on Wednesday. I would like to run Fin-n-Things on Thursday. Easier trails at BFE or Poison Spider could work for Friday.

We did Stike Ravine last year. It is not the usual Moab wheeling - boulder crawling and a few ledges. The scenery is not the usual vistas. There was on low tree branch that put another crease in my roof. I was not very careful. The other trucks cleared it.

Sevenmile Rim is a great easy trail.

We will be staying until Monday, when reality dictates that we return to New Mexico.

Team Poco Loco
1984 K5 with some stuff added

do you have a ballpark idea of rig specs required to run Pritchett?
