Modern day parts catalogs are really pissing me off these days...absolutely none of the critical specifications listed on any of these damn things any more..

Need to replace the oil pressure sender on my '86 K5, and not surprising, all the auto parts stores list 2 or 3 different senders, switches, or my favorite thus far - BWD lists a "Oil pressure gauge switch" :surepal: I know the difference between a sender and a switch, but it is not at all helpful when the parts manufacturers/reboxers don't properly differentiate between the two themselves. 1 of which is listed for 89-87/74/72-69 Blazers, and the other 91-87 Blazers, and 86-75 K5 Blazers or 86-82 K5 Blazers, respectively. Was unaware that there even was a non K5 Blazer before '83 :surepal:

So...anyone have a good part number that I can at least hopefully cross reference for an '86 K5? :haha:

I usually go to O'Reilly's site and look stuff up myself before going to the store.

There are tons of parts that interchange within similar applications as well as unrelated applications so it would only make sense for manufacturers to combine multiple part numbers down to one. Honestly, I'm not sure what the issue is - have you bought a sender that should have worked for your application and it didn't ? Or do you just not trust the part because it fits other vehicles?

As for critical specs, those can be a good or bad thing. As a former 20+ yr parts guy I can tell you the worst customers you'd ever face is someone with a meter but doesn't know what they're doing.

Have you used rockauto?

Their pics are usually pretty helpful, and *sometimes* the parts search/cross reference on ACDelco.com is beneficial.

You can also download the parts catalogs from the links in my signature, that will give you the GM part number to be able to cross reference.

And yes, modern parts catalogs suck. Finding anyone at a store that knows what they are doing is also pretty much gone.
