Onetonbb74s K5

1 ton k5 built for wheeling and camping.
Well I finished the front end, added the reid knuckles, chromo shafts, updated spindle seals, axle seals, and axle tube seals. All new tierod ends, draglink ends, and reset the toe. Installed new axle shims to get the pinion up a little as I was overextending the front u-joint. Slapped on new bilstein shocks and went for a camping trip in the Santa Cruz mountains...rig is completely setup for the street, doors on, black steelies on 37s, tek skrewed the front fender back on and mounted the grill.

Fast forward to this last weekend and I scrambled to get ready for the con...

Swapped to the tube doors, took apart the steering and installed the ram assist, new lines and reusuable fittings, re-set the tow again and bled the system. Re-bled the brakes as I did it by myself prior and wanted to make sure they were perfectly bled. Mounted the bumpstops and swapped the beadlock 37s on. Didnt have time to hook up the power invertor and ended up leaving the 2 12"s in the back for the trip.

Drove put to my buddies house near Sacramento and ended up going to the car show in downtown Auburn...20210611_192058.jpg20210611_194627.jpg20210611_192323.jpg20210611_193018.jpg

Made it to the Con and met up with @Chevk587 , @skunked , and Chris. We made it to buck Island and back. Pretty fun trip, luckily no crazy/ major trail damage on the Blazer. 20210612_162005.jpg20210612_161957.jpg

Made it back out, had to help mat in a few spots as he broke the front axleshafts and wheeled out in 2wd. That rig is pretty capable in 2wd...only a few tugs in a few key spots. Great trip!

Unlocked the hubs and drove to my trailer and noticed violent death wobble. Ignored it and loaded it up and drove the 200 miles home.

While unloaded the Blazer I noticed the front end was very loose, upon inspection the front tierod wasn't completely torqued down and popped out of the tapered hole in the steering arms...doah!

The steering box was loose and the pitman arm was loose...tightened it all up, put a new washer and nut on the sector shaft and all is good. Been driving it the past couple days and were back in business...Installed the power invertor while I had the chance. Put the street tires back on, as it is going to be 100 plus here the next week and trying to save my wheeling tires.

Next project is to fix my frame from the shackle area to the engine crossmember and box the frame in this area. Install new bump stops as the old ones ripped off. Install the body bushings and 1" pucks, the brake valve shutoff for parking brake, and the leaf spring bushings all around. Im also going to pull the rear axle and inspect and paint everything and re-install. Also need to swap my 205 rear output seal, front pinion seal and the new 1350 yoke I got from ORD.

Still have tons of work to do. New fenders, tie in the cage, make a rear skid plate, and make some side wings for the front and rear bumpers...

I fixed the death wobble, tierod was very loose, I never torqued it after setting the toe I guess. The tierod ends popped out of the tapered holes in the steering arms. The castle nuts had the cotterpin in, so they stayed on the shaft luckily. Oops.

The rear driverside hub seal is now leaking...tore it down last evening and there is a nice groove...:doah:
