To mount my power steering resevoir, I need a couple of oil resistant 5/8" 90° bends to put together OR a custom made hose. Any good sources? Local parts houses want to sell me a chunk of heater hose.

I'm using a remote resevoir from a 454 and it already has a straight nipple on the bottom, this is the big obstacle. I still need a 90 at the pump but I can use a push lock hose splice there to join the hose to the boot on top of the pump.

I've seen a couple of sites plus ebay that offer silicone bends but most say not for oil or gas so I assume that means all silicone type hoses.

Anybody got anything??

You can get oil cooler hose that large, but maybe not with 90 degree bends molded into it...you could use a copper elbow fitting with 2 straight peices though..the OEM hose GM uses in the vans with external fluid resiviours is similar to heater hose, and has bends molded into it,maybe GM can still supply one?...I have used heater hose on things with hydraulic oil on the return side and it lasted a long time,it eventually gets soft and delaminates but it'll take a few years probably...use a good brand like Gates, not some cheapie china junk..

Crazy thought, have you tried jagsthatrun.com?

I recall them having things for air induction, but maybe they've got other stuff?

No idea where else to turn, sorry.

How about a piece of EMT bent to shape and some boots to join it at each end? I've been able to make some fairly tight bends in plastic conduit with a torch, but it's always deformed somewhat.

Otherwise I can only suggest browsing the McMaster Carr and Grainger sites. Sometimes you find formed hose pieces in the "Help" section of local stores. If they had the right diameter you could piece something together.

I am in this same boat. Its driving me nuts, I have searched Lowes and hardware stores high and low to create this fitting. Home Depot is my last option before I buy a pump for an Astrovan that just has the 5/8in nipple on top to run the rezzie to. But that is like 70$, and I have around 20K in this pos, and sadly I cant justify this pump. :haha:

How about making a mandrel of sorts and heating and forming a section of heater hose?

This is for power steering fluid, heater hose is not rated for oil.

For my remote res. on my old one ton. I used a brass 90 on the bottom of the res. Then some 5/8 blue hydro hose ran to the pump.

They no longer make the factory one for that application even though they are used on like 10 bazillion trucks through the years.

Got it from EVCO house of hose. Not sure they are on line, available to buy.

Buy the right size hose then take a piece of copper that fits on the inside. It doesn't have to be a super tight fit, just snug. Then you can bend the copper and it will keep the hose from deforming.

Whatever you do, make sure the rezzy is higher. I know it sounds dumb, but I used some Home Depot fittings, and ended up having to remount my rezzy up higher because it wasnt operating correctly. Sounds dumb, but it happened to me. :haha:

That is my sole reason for the resevoir, I need to get the system cap higher than my cooler.

Fwiw, I found a solution but you'll have to go to my build thread to see it. Click the link in my sig and start at post #559. :D
