Hey Guys!
Happy Easter!
as i told, it's not so easy to find in Italy, good tools for american cars.
but MAYBE i find an italian website with correct prices and with good american brands.
what do you think about Great Neck american tools?
is it a good brand?
are they resistant tools?!
thanks guys!

I have herd of them but know nothing about them myself. I would look into Cornwell, or just stick to the Snap On or Matco or MAC tool brands. Craftsmen quality has gone way down these days but they will still do the job. You could mail order them too. I just wont buy them anymore myself.

nope never heard of them.most of mine are craftsman from sears.lifetime guarantee.no sure about what kind of warrantee or shipping them to you would be cost effective.if you broke something, you would have to ship it back here to u.s. and wait for that tool to come back to you.theres gotta be something like that over there.id go to your local hardware store and see what they have that is lifetime guaranteed.s.k. or matco are good tools also.best of luck.

I've had a few Great Neck tools like sockets and wrenches. They weren't bad tools, but i've never used Mac or SnapOn to compare.

thanks for answer!
the problem is that in Italy is not so easy to find inches tools and is very very hard to find american brands like MAC or SnapOn or others.

here good brands are for example Beta, Usag, Wurth but if i want to get a set of inches tools i have to buy a complete set, price is around 300 - 400 euro! too much! i don't need micro-sockets or micro-screwdrivers!

so i find a good italian website, with reasonable prices for replacement parts for american cars and tools.

they have just Great Neck, a good set is €.119,00, good price. i know that i could find at the same price better tools but I have not yet found
an american dealer who can send me tools in Italy, and I do not know how much is the cost to shipping the package to italy considering the weight

If it helps any, I use a 12-point metric socket set on both my k5 and my cars that use metric. The 12-point metric sockets work fine on most "english\inch" bolts and nuts.

13mm = 1/2"
14mm = 9/16"

Open-end wrenches don't work quite as well, but the closed side (whatever it's called) works pretty nicely if it's 12-point.

Boxend :D

See if you can find gearwrench. We started carrying them the last couple months I worked at advance auto parts. They were very nice tools with a no questions asked lifetime warranty. They had nice handles, nice coating, a reasonable price that wasnt very much more than craftsmen and they were definitely a better quality than craftsmen and I've had loads of MAC, Craftsmen, and Gearwrench.

They are manufactured by the production company of craftsmen and one of the major tool trucks in the US (MAC, MATCO, Snapon) sells them as the entry level tool I cant remember which.

I have heard of them but not anything about the quality, just seen them advertized.
I would talk to a tool guy at a specialty shop, I was in the middle east and in France and I got to be friendly with a tool guy and he showed me some real good stuff made in Taiwan that rivaled the USA made tools for less than half the price.
And i am not talking about the chinese crap we see here.
I still have some of those tools that I brought with me here.

I've used the Great Neck stuff before, as far as all the cheap tools go, it's better than most of it.

I still have some Great Neck wrenches that came in a roll up plastic pouch...use em for trailer towing and stuff like that. Got no complaints about them, but they certainly aren't used primarily either. They don't compare to a Snap-on either, but probably about 1/4 of the price too.

that seems like a pretty good price for the tools.as long as it comes with everything you need and some warrantee on breakage.they should be fine.ive broken so many of the cheapy china made ones(and my knuckles) that i try not to use them on anything i really gotta put a lot of torque on them and just use my good ones on anything tough.as was said most 12 point metric sockets and box end wrenches will work fine on most inch size bolts.box end not so good, but adjustable wrench or vice grips will work in a pinch.

yeah i saw most important american tools... i saw Amazon website sells them but there are restrictions to send stuff to italy!

otherwise i can get, from other websites, good american tools but i must spend $.100 for stuff and $.150 for shipping.

for bp71...12-point sockets are the tools with small teeth within right?
without hexagonal

'cause infact i used a closed wrench 10mm to open FR bleeder without problem. it seems correct wrench

I think great neck tools are what is sold at costco and other department store places. same as crescent and kawasaki:rolleyes: if im not mistaken.

It might actually be 10mm. Early trucks had 3/8" bleeders, but IIRC, later (mid-80's and onward) had some metric fasteners, including the bleeder screws.

infact for my bleeder FR (the less worn) i used 10mm closed wrench, it seemed perfect.
for the others i used 9mm for FL bleeder, 8mm RR, 7mm RL

right left bleeder was practically a cylinder!
:)
