Ok so since I will be away again for the winter, what are the resident opinions on car cover for outdoor winter storage? As in will snow/ice on top of a car cover potentially ruin my paint?
Put it on a tailer. Put a good quality cover on it. Then take it to a boat shop and get it shrink wrapped. Works great. If you have to get it off of the trailer, ask for a piece of shrink wrap to take with you. Cut the wrap at the door line so you can get in and roll the vehicle off. Then duct tape the extra piece on tight.
Good idea. I know a local place that does the shrink wrap thing. He's right in Carver too. The shrink wrap will stay tight, then put the car cover over that. The cover can rub on the wrap instead of the paint.
Call Peter at 508-328-5296. Tell him Brian from Volvo Village sent ya.
Make sure no sun can get through the cover...any moisture under the cover will get baked by the sun, and has the potential to F up the paint.
Also, I still swear by a good ole fashioned mousetrap w/ peanut butter...put a couple inside and some desecant packs for moisture buildup. The put about 4 more mousetraps around the outside and check em often.
And its pretty hard to check mouse traps when I'll be 3000 miles away...
I have the perfect solution.
Ship it to me and let me use it while you are gone.
Problem solved.

I've seen what you do with your truck so I will have to respectfully decline your offer...![]()
Ya I know the place, I get my boat worked on there. We had it shrink wrapped there for over $400 or something like that. I'm not spending that kind of money on a cover that's only going to on there for a month.
That may be someone else. He doesn't work on boats. He is a business supply person mainly, but does the shrink wrap thing this time of year. He also does vinyl decals. He's mobile too, can come out and wrap it on site instead of you bringing it to him.
Who knows, maybe he does the wrapping for where you get your boat fixed and they mark it up to make their cut. That's not unheard of.
If it's only for a month, I wouldn't worry about it. Your original post made it sound like it was gonna be much longer... like now till spring. Put your cover on it and be done with it.
