I was thinking about getting one for my 98 L31 5.7. I was just curious if they are worth it. I have heard both ways.

Along with that I was going to polish, and remove the restrictor on the TB on my L31.

If they actually did anything, you'd think GM would have installed them at the factory for $2 a piece........

A lot of these aftermarket "enhancements" are snake oil. :deal:

On a wet intake spacers move the power bands up/down. On a dry intake like a TPI, LT1, or LS motor it does absolutely nothing.

Yep.

If the fuel gets mixed in with the air before the spacer then it'll do something.

If the fuel gets mixed in with the air after the spacer then it's doing nothing.

Gotcha, thats what I was thinking. I just wanted some confirmation, as there are mixed results, and very few people are actually messing with the 350 vortec's anymore.

I removed the Restrictor plate on my ol 97 Vortec 4.3, not sure if it did anything. All I remember is you have to cover the holes left from the rivets.

Currently I have another 97 but with a 5.7, I have headers, Intake, Dual Exhaust and a B&M shift improver on it. Its night and day difference over stock I find.

I would look into computer tunes such as wheatly as I hear they are decent as well.

There are a lot of guy running TBI mods from CFM-tech.com

For about $300, their whole package seems to be a good deal for bolt on TBI performance.

They have a spacer, salad bowl style air cleaner ring, injector spacer, adj fuel pressure regulator, and pressure gauge.

I've installed the whole setup, and saw some improvement with the fuel pressure turned up.

Currently I just made an intake, w/ K&N air filter I took off my wife's envoy, still have to make the box.

I want to put in a corvette servo in the trans for a snappier 1-2 shift, and maybe do the wheatley, or blackbear tune.

He's asking for a post TBI 96+ truck.

1996 chevy vortec

I put one on my 1996 Chevy and did not notice much difference.

I would save my money.

I think the corvette servo would be a good simple upgrade. The 700R4/4l60E band needs all the holding power you can get.

I think the Raptor transmission company, I forget their name now, make one thats supposed to be even better than the corvette servo.
