Other SAS options, besides ORU?

the 2wd frame is identical to the 4wd frame, with the exception of the coil buckets and the engine crossmember, which arent critical areas in spring mounting. a plasma cutter and some creative bracing will take care of them pretty easily. i was told that the kit has been sucessfully used on both.

refund is pending on the other kit, then i'm going to place an order with S ky.

never was sure about that. Something about the front frame horns look funky on the 2wds, but I haven't looked at a 4x4 frame in a while.

Have any pics of his setup yet? I'd like to see it before of course. But it sounds like a good idea. Could run 2.5" springs and get the height I desire as well as a nice smooth ride.

the 2.5 springs wont cut it on a solid axle swap. when i did mine i found even stock 56" used for the 4" lift factor were still going to need crossmember work.

frame modification is no problem for me. The factory crossmember will be completely eliminated and replaced with something else. Either a custom made plate member or a tubular one.

the Sky kit itself is said to give 4" of lift, and several people have completed the lower lift ORD setup with 3" springs. shouldnt be much of an issue other than the front crossmember may need a little work. nothing some plate steel, a plasma cutter, and a welder cant fix though.

my Sky brackets are supposed to be here tomorrow. i'll have to snap some pics and post up. i can hardly wait. :D

little mix up with the Sky brackets, through a little bit of miscomunication between the salesman and myself, i recieved a Toyota full width kit.

talked to Sky on it, and he's sweetening the deal a bit. sending out the proper kit, and a call tag for the incorrect one. he also told me that he's got an improved design that will be available next week, and if i was ok with it, he'd wait until the new design was available and then ship me one of them. since i'm going to be in Oregon for 2 weeks, i'm fine with that.

SWEET! i just found out i'll be spending the next weekend in Springfield, OR.

im gonna go try to meet Sky in person sometime next week.

didnt get a chance to meet Sky, but i did visit the shop. the prototype truck had just been finished for the updated design (the kit i'll be getting). great people to deal with, and very hospitable when i was at the shop. you guys are gonna sh!t when you see this kit. it is so badass. unfortunately the camera on my phone sucks, so the only pic that turned out was the one of the overall truck. 21" total lift (12" springs, 6" built into the brackets, and a 3" body lift) and 44" Boggers.

get the right brackets yet? Attempting to sell my C2500 right now so hopefully I can buy another K5, but if that doesn't work out (which it has 2 bids on Ebay after almost 5 days) it will be getting the SAS. Likely leave it 2wd and just sling an axle under it for now.

not yet, talked to Sky today, and he says they should be ready to go very soon. should have them in my hands by the end of the week, or the first of next week he says. the 6" bracket kit i'm told can be lowered 2" by redrilling the front crossmember, and moving the shackle brackets higher on the frame. the 2" bracket kit is out the window, as they ran into too many problems.

What is the whole setup costing you? I'm seeing it on Sky's website, the shackle hangers look SICK!!! The beefiest design of any of the kits I have seen. However if I am reading it right that means $200 just for the Shackle hangers and shackles. What about the front crossmember? My truck didn't hit the reserve on Ebay so looks like the drive to get it SASed is now on the front burner.

are the front of the 2wd and 4wd frames the same? i might wanna buy just there front crossmember...

the 2wd frames and 4x4 frames are the same, save for the coil bucket area. Sky was talking like 425ish for price the other day.

The frames aren't quite the same, the very front where the front hangers fo, is tapered back, whereas the 4wds are flat with the ground. Could have been the truck I was looking at, 1 ton crew cab 2wd.

didnt really get what you ment. what do you mean the rails are tapered back?

The very front part of the frame, where the ORU brackets would go, or where the stock tow hooks bolt on.

these mounts

I understood where you ment, i didnt understand what you ment. i know the "horns" on my frame (where the brackets mount) appear slightly twisted when you look at them from the front. like 2-3* lower on the outside, higher towards the inside of the frame on both sides. thats why i ask, if i can use a 1 piece crossmember it'll eliminate that problem.

Never paid much attention to 2wds, been awhile since I looked at one, but the one that my buddy had, looking at it from the side, the front part of the frame was higher than the back part. Sorta like a ramp. Does that make any sense??
