I had mine die out in a heavy rain before.
And anytime we wheeled one it was understood that I hooked up a tow strap and through the tail in the truck for any water obstacle lol. Just to be ready.
I had 2 with the 345 and one with the 304. All 3 sucked in water :doah:.

Funner'n'ell at all other times though lol.

As for a pic.... Since P.A.D.
I took the dogs up to the shop yesterday and both of them had to stop and sniff the half buried concrete puppy. Guess dogs sniff dogs no matter what lol.

Sorry captain Ron, but that not correct. The turbodiesel came out in 78.
Wikipedia isn't the most reliable information on the web. Everyone knows that.

I personally know of a 79 4 speed scout. Neighboring farmer bought it new and still has it back where I'm from.

Sounds like the shady curse strikes again. We have had two International pickups with the 345 and 304 over the years and never seen such a thing.

Left Canada January 18th. Got some pizza in Chicago. Hit the pub in Dublin. Now back to Chicago. Lets see if it decided to get here this month.
Another one departed Canada December 9th amd made it all the way to dallas after two months just to be returned to sender. Hasnt made it back yet.
They would be fine if they weren't rare or desirable auto parts.

And I thought my stuff sitting in NJ with FedEx for a week was bad. Was in Knoxville yesterday. Should have been delivered today. It is now in Nashville with no delivery date listed. Blaming the weather.

Ordered a year end close out deal on SUPs for the wife and I.
I’ve been dying to try it out so why wait for summer.
Did about 500 yards out to the main channel and back.
I was lucky enough to stay vertical and dry.

I guess we can agree to disagree, this is from the article you posted....
"Many say the last year of Scout production was the best. They had the best rust protection of any Scout, along with the addition of the Dana 300 transfer case and a 101-hp turbocharged version of the engine called the SD-33T. A big new marketing program had been launched to bring Scout more into the mainstream. A new Scout had been developed and was nearly ready for production. The Scout line was healthy when the plug was pulled, even though IH itself wasn’t, and the last Scout rolled off the line in October 1980. IH tried to sell the Scout l design and while a couple of buyers got close, ultimately there was no sale."
    And here we have...

What engines were available in Scouts models? International offered a variety of engines:Scout 80 800 A B:1961 - 65 had standard: gasoline powered engine 152 4-cyl. From 1965 to 71 had options of these gasoline powered 196 4-cyl., 232 6-cylinder, 266 V-8, 304 V-8. There was a brief option for the 4 cylinder of a turbocharger in 1965. The Scout II made between 1971 and 1980 had engine options like: 196 4-cylinder., (Early) 232 6-cylinder, 258 6-cylinder, 304 V-8, 345 V-8, SD-33 Diesel (non-turbo), SD-33T Diesel (Turbocharged) engine. 392 V-8s were never installed in any Scouts from the factory. 1976 was the first year for a diesel powered vehicle to be available in the US, it was in the Scout II! IH used the Nissan SD-33 diesel engine for fuel economy. In 1980 IH SD-33 was replaced with the SD-33T (Turbocharged) diesel engine. These Diesel Scouts were great for economy, getting 20 mpg in the city and up to 30 mpg on the highway. All gasoline engines offered were made by IH including the v304 which is sometimes confused with the AMC 304, except for the AMC 232 6-cylinder, 258 6-cylinder. The full sized IH Pickups and Travelalls used an AMC v401 as an option when there was a shortage of IH v392s in 1973-74.

Flew from southern Colorado (home) to L.A. and back home today. 13 hour total time. If I’d drove it I’d barely be to Barstow. I’m the passenger, not the pilot. Went out for a sales call. Pics are of the South Rim of the Grand Cayon.

C17 in town for Resident Bidens visit. I’m not sure what the mission was, maybe hauling the entourage vehicles?
    He landed in a 757.
