Kurt in the first pic you can see the IH gasket with the silver screw heads where it mounts into the caddy head. The second pic is how tight the fit is to the firewall on the drivers side. Third one is also drivers side just a different angle. Pass side is no problem because the offset adds lots the clearance there.

I did the IH thing because it is very different, people look and ask IH? Second that valve cover is big enough to fit and tall enough to clear the rockers. And third it was like 50 bucks for the adapters and 25 bucks for the valve covers.

429 and 460 VC's will fit with an adapter as well

Better in the Garage? Or did you have another forum in mind when you posted this?

Either way, it's out of the lounge, and if you meant for it to not be in the Garage either let me know and I'll move it again.

BTW, for the stupid (ie: me) you're saying you found a way to adapt IH valve covers to ft on Caddy heads?

Pretty crazy stuff right there. I don't know what'd be tougher finding, the IH valve covers or taller caddy covers. Then again, I have never looked for the IH covers either.

I think for now, I'll do a 3/8" thick aluminum spacer and later, go back and fab some aluminum covers that solve the issues. I got some brake booster clearance issues as well so the spacer will be better for now.

Thanks for the pics!

Thanks for the offer Merv. I'll just do up the spacer myself for now. I think 3/8" will take care of the height. Who knows, maybe if I have time I'll just go ahead and fab them complete.

IH covers on a caddy engine installed in a chevy is going to confuse alot of peaople when the hood is opened. i'm all for it.:D

A guy on the caddy board made sets of the adapters and I got a set because at the time "cheap" aluminum valve covers didn't exist. Now they are under 300 bucks but do have a leak problem. I had to do some tweaking to get these sealed tight but they did seal.

And thanks for the move Rene.:D
