Picking out a fuel injection system

my Fitech was great till I washed the motor and it fried , if I get half a chance I will go eddy pro flo 4

then your lucky @yellowK20 . when i started having problems right out of the box first fire up i did some hunting and found LOTS of others with the same problems or worse some dead out of the box brand new . but like i said to each there own and good luck with what you pick out .

I’d be curious to know the sales numbers , I would bet the Sniper out sells the Edelbrock and FITech by a 2-1 margin .

My buddies boat has 600+hp 540 , It gets between 8-13 gallons per hour . Depending on load and conditions . Not sure if you know Airboats at all but that’s phenomenal, just to give you idea my boat with 454@425hp with a 750 Holley burns between 15-20 gallons per hour and doesn’t have near the power .

It sucks that you had the troubles you did , but I would say you are in the minority .Off the top of my head I can think of at least 15 sniper systems in use up here all with similar results.

Unfortunately yes I would say you are part of that small percentage.

I do know one guy who has the FITech on his Airboat and it’s been trouble free for 3 seasons now . He has the system with the fuel command center .

Edit: the boat on the right has FITECH the other boats have snipers ,

Just to add, @mrk5 had his Sniper crash the ECM just out if warranty. If I remember correctly, they took care of it for only shipping costs, but the truck was down for weeks.
Yes, the sales numbers of the Edelbrock aren't as high as the others, but lots of people won't swap an intake if they see an easier way to fix an engine that won't run right with a carburetor. So more will go with what they believe to be easier and faster, especially if the perceived total cost is less. I'm not putting anyone down with that statement, or claiming that I chose a superior system. Edelbrock does come with the distributor, so the "base price" is more than the others. There are other features that I liked better, too.
My very limited experience with Edelbrock tech support has been great!

I'm one of those running a FiTech and love it. TBI can be made to work, but requires a LOT of work. The PF4, Sniper, and FiTech all have their pros/cons, you need to figure out what works for your situation (including future potential upgrades).

I have said this before in other threads , comparing a MPFI kit to a TBI kit is not Apples to Apples comparison.

Holley has been in the Fuel Injection and engine management game a long time , and they have been buying up other industry leaders . Wouldn’t surprise me to see Edelbrock owned by Holley in the near future now that Vic is gone

holley = Per Holley Senior Engineer Doug Flynn, “Holley started offering aftermarket EFI systems in the mid-late 80’s. (info from article from a old magazine )

edelbrock = offered its first efi kit in 1979 then full on from 1981 to today .

the reason i say compare both the master kit's at the same basic price point is just that price point to get the BEST bang for your buck . in my opinion if you can make fuel lines that can hold 60 psi on your rig then you should be more than able to swap a intake manifold for a efi swap . if you cant do this you prob should not be messing with fuel lines .

each vehicle / boat / car / truck / jeep / atv / what ever will dictate what kit works best for each of the rides requirements . all i am saying is do a ton of reading / looking / asking before you buy just off the sales add info like i did . go read my story in this link . learn from it / understand what i did to deal with there kit and how much i bent over backwards to let them try and fix it . https://ck5.com/forums/threads/my-h...m-the-start-update-the-story-ends-now.335419/

in the end pic the kit that fits your needs / product support in your area after the sale / friends or shops that can help you with it in your area . sometimes after the sale support is more important than the product its self .

were not all going to like the same kits or parts . but dont just drink the coolaid cause it looks good .

@sweet:

Do you feel the Edlebrock system is superior to all/most of the others?

Which, at this point, do you feel is the most, or even, completely, trouble free irregardless of multi-point or tbi? Forget about performance, i mean just basic trouble free functioning.

Don’t forget Holley was making stuff for the OEM’s ...............

for a guy like me that wants efi and easy to play with yes i love it .

for the hard core tuner guy that loves to tweek / make tons of power i will say holley has that covered with the higher end stuff .as well as others like FAST injection or mega squirt or others .

as said tbi style or port injection is to different games but the end result for each is different for each .

i just know my dealings with o.e.m gm tbi to the sniper on the same basic truck was the sniper sucked big time in fuel mileage and parts quality . the edelbrock pro flo 4 for the most part was hands down a better setup right out of the box . i have made a few tweeks but otherwise it just runs great .

Something else to consider, the new ZZ6 EFI crate engine that GM offers uses the Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4 system. It's not advertised as such, but when you look at the instructions for both the Edelbrock and the GM you can see that it is the same parts

I think I'll save my pennies for the PF4.

I'll sell my other setup which should run great after someone tunes an 0411 PCM to go with it

When I look up the pump I see several different mfrs and wildly different prices. I went for the Delphi FE0114 since it shipped from the same location as my other parts.

Is there any real difference between the $13 Spectra and the $76 AC Delco?
