Piecing together a full vert! (This Blows)

I come through that area several times annually (typically on 151). Would love to pull off the road and meet both of ya sometime. :)

And you guys are within a short drive of @streetrodchev and several other CK5 members in the SE corner of the state.

There is a lot more members in this area than I thought!

Yeah. @-stew- is in the Milwaukee area. @folkenheath is down in that corner. @streetrodchev is between Madison and Milwaukee. I've forgotten where @85 Burb is at, but it's somewhere down there as well. @beags86 is just across the border in Illinois. Add in you two, and that's 7 members fairly close together. And I'm thinking that I've forgotten someone, too. :dunno:

An hour West of you you'll find @TREA18, and a little further will take you down to Clinton (IA), where you will find @shady.

Up north, you have myself, @magik235, and @Highpsi.

There really are quite a few from this area. They just don't post as prolifically as the Lower Michigan gang. :haha: :rotfl:

Time for a CK5 roundup!

MWK5 (Mid West k5) flagwaver

Its been a while since I posted some progress on the blazer. Mainly just been gathering parts for the next stage of the build.
I got my transmission cleaned up with new seals and fresh paint. Also cleaned up the transfer case and painted it. I still want to get a SYE for the NP241 at some point. Getting to be a pile of parts waiting to go in.

I ended up getting a different frame. My old one was bent a little in front of the front shackle mount. Tried finding someone to fix it but most said don't work on anything that old. Also tried fixing myself. Got it close but since I was this far I didn't want to think about the frame in the future. I'm planning on giving DIY4x a call sometime soon to order the boxing kit. I was always planing on adding a cage but figured I should box it if I decide to do links way, way, way, in the future.
Here is the frame:

Here it is with all the mounts off, so many rivets. Only went through 4 cutting discs though. Picked up a new chisel that made the work a whole lot easier.

Ordered my draglink and pitman arm from ORD during their Holiday sale:

Got LS swap motor mounts from TNA, man these things are nice!

Now for the piece de resistance: the heavy duty transmission mount from TNA. This is a beast! I am really excited to mount this up.

Now to get that frame blasted and ready to start back over :grind:

Nice parts. Now to get it back together. ;)

Thanks! I'm looking forward to that part. Since the body will be off the frame again I might as well do all the brake and fuel line plumbing. I'm hoping to make a lot of progress in the reassemble before summer.

What did that run you shipped?

Well, nothing like back-tracking on a project. It was about a year ago when I got the blazer tub on blocks now I'm back to the same spot.

Removed the old frame to replace with a straight one. Not sure what I'm going to do with this one

I'm glad I have more room now, makes things a little easier.

Next is to clean up the new frame and work on boxing. I was debating on cutting up the old frame to box my new one, not sure if all the effort is worthwhile. I have been checking out the DIY4X boxing kit and the Rob Bonney kit. I like the Rob Bonney kit but it is $$$$. The "speed holes" would be nice for running the lines in the frame, accessing bolts, and lightening things up a bit. Would also make it easier to paint inside the box frame, but it might allow more crap to get caught in there.

The old framerails make an awfully accurate "boxing plate" for the new frame...... allegedly.......from what I've seen on the internet. :)

There is a pretty popular build thread somewhere, I think it might be this forum, where someone pulled that off ....

Time for a little update

I have been searching for a while for a 1973-1974 grill. Finally came across one on craigslist for $20! Could use a little cleaning, touching up, and an emblem but no cracks.

Today UPS dropped off the TNA Rear Axle front adjustable hangers. These things are really good looking and of course beefy! Going to look for some 64's and move the 52's to the front
