Piecing together a full vert! (This Blows)

Back on topic. I'm way jealous of the progress you have made. I haven't even put that A pillar I got from you in yet. That will change this winter! Big, big plans.

Haven't posted in a while but made some headway. Finally put the body back on the frame. Then started doing some body work and paint. I painted the door jambs and dash. I used an eastwood single stage paint, turned out pretty nice. Next step is assembling the under dash stuff and wiring. I picked up an American Autowire classic update wiring kit off of a cyber Monday deal. Comes with all new plugs and connections so should be pretty simple.

Lowering off the blocks

Painted, sprayed some on the side to get an idea what it will look completed. Had some brush white paint for the stripe.

Hey...it's looking very nice. Definitely not rusty enough for our area. ;)

FYI, we'll be heading back through Mad-town tomorrow afternoon. That puts us within a stone's throw of Oregon if you wanna try again to meet up. Ditto for @TREA18 and @shady.

Thank you! Not having rust has been a welcomed change compared to my past projects.
Man, timing has not been working out. I'm going to be on the road trying to close some sales before the end of the year. Very stressful time trying to hit my goal. One of these days though. Maybe if I really work at it we can make a trip up north with the blazer this summer.

No biggie. We trek across the state every couple months or so to go see family. The stars will line up eventually.

Or you can come up North. Come join the overlanding trip next year. :D

Man, haven't updated this in a while. Little by little I have been getting some small things done.
Worked on reinstalling the HVAC under the dash.

Then started wiring the under dash stuff. Used the American Autowire Classic Update Series, really simplified things plus it came with new connectors and switches.

Also hooked up my shifter. That was a PITA, ended up cutting the the lokar and stock shift rod up and welding them together. Also got all my Autometer Gauges installed and hooked up mostly.

Little out of sequence but I painted my column and installed a new bearing in it.

Got a new vent from 6872xtc that I painted black

Had a hard time finding a nice clean core support up here so ordered a reproduction one. It's ok, not as heavy duty as stock but it should work.

Got a break booster and master from my cousin from a project he gave up on. I think its 3/4 ton but didn't look up the part numbers.
Started on my steering. Went with a 2wd box from a 86 chevy so the LS lines bolt up. Ordered a Borgeson steering shaft for it. Had to send the lower joint back to trade for one that will fit this steering box. Also waiting on a new power steering pump.

While looking through my parts I found I had a zero rate from an old project. Decided to put it on the rear and move the axle back an 1" to get it centered in the wheel well.

Plan is to finish everything up in the engine bay (radiator, hoses, wiring, hvack, lines, and etc) before it gets warm enough to do body work. It is fun to see it more looking like a truck!

Hey I know that truck....Larry's work is an inspiration. Glad it can be used as such. Not bad for his first actual LS type swap. My goal is to not screw it up now that it's in my driveway. Keep up the good work on the full vert!
When they can be saved, they need to be saved. My 75 was beyond saving without a crazy amount of money to be spent on sheetmetal. The top and associated parts were saved for somebody else to make one though.

Hey ZooMad, what upper rad hose number is that? The one I used fits, but it looks like yours fit better than mine. :-)

I don't have the part number in front of me at work, but it's a stock upper hose for a 2001 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3. got it at Napa. Only issue is where it goes on the radiator. It's a little tight, but a little grease and it slipped on.

Great info! Im at the point of looking at radiators and was wondering if I should get the stock style radiators or the ls swap ones with everything on the passenger side. Stock style is a lot cheaper so its great that the hoses work for it!

I used my stock radiator from the 350 that was in it. Never got close to over heating, not even once.

Well I wish that I would have checked in here sooner!
But I finally got through all of this thread.
Cool to see your work!

And your illness makes me feel 'normal'...

Time for some more updates. Been getting a lot of the engine bay done lately
Installed my heat/AC box
WP_20170130_001.jpg
Modified my core support to fit the newer condenser in
WP_20170211_003.jpg
Got my new radiator. I originally ordered an american eagle unit but there last one was damaged. So they upgraded me to this one. A little bigger and has 1.24" tubes
WP_20170212_001.jpg WP_20170212_003.jpg
Added a Pinon Guard
WP_20170219_007.jpg
Installed my Borgeson steering shaft
WP_20170227_001.jpg
Made mounts for the windstar fans
WP_20170304_003.jpg
Then added a transmission cooler and power steering cooler. It was pretty difficult fitting everything behind the sunken in grill but it got done

I live by that motto also. I hope mine will make noise in a couple of weeks with any luck. Keep up the good work can't wait to see it when it's done.

We will have to get the trucks together when they are both running. I have quite a ways before that happens with mine
