Hey everyone,I thought I would start this thread to maybe shed some light onto these tires. I have been wanting some new tires for a while in the 40" or so flavor. So I've done a ton of research and what I can find is that pitbulls are fantastic tires. I didn't want to go with iroks because they are so soft, and ltb's are unavailable for a long time. I bought the tires from 4x4groupbuy.com, which i HIGHLY recommend, Jason and Sheri are great people to deal with and really took the time to talk to me about tire options. Giving me real world accounts, they use the products they sell.

I just got these tires in the door and here are some of the specs so far.

MADE IN USA!!!!

93.2lbs

18mm tread depth

13" wide unmounted

38" tall unmounted

My previous tires were TSL SSR's 38x15.5x16" 99.4lbs and 14" wide and 36" tall at halfway worn.

I will be running these on my K5 blazer, full 1ton, lockers and I use it weekend drives/offroading. I wanted to start this thread to give a long term review on them, how they wear, act on rocks, mud, general abuse. They will be mounted on a 10x 16" steel wheel

Here are some pics!

UPDATES

Well I finally got the tires mounted up on my 10" wide rims. At 11psi they measure out to 39.25" tall and 15" wide to the outside of the tread. Its 16.5 to the sidewall. They suck in quite a bit on 10" wheels but i think they are perfect. I will have pictures tommrow.

Damm, those look sweet. I am looking forward to your feedback. I think I will be getting those next.

i've been waiting on a thread like this, i want the 44's but havent heard any info on em. lets see some pic's mounted!!:woot:

If you guys want info on Pit bulls just ask me :D

Ran the 42s for about a year now running 44s for about the same.

Awesome tires off road. Best bias ply on road tires. I have driven my truck well over 50 miles to a trail at 65 mph. No problems. Off road I just can't say enough about them. I am actually going back down to 42s here in the near future. 44s break stuff alot.

There is some pictures of my truck all over the website, heres a link to some of them http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=266528

There was a write up on these in some 4 wheel mag. tested the 44's in all situations. actually got killer reviews. great manners in mud, snow, rock, street. I was thinking this would be my next set of sneakers.

thats what i wanted to hear!! the 44" rocker is cheaper than the bogger. i dont understand why the 44" boggers went from around $420 a tire a couple years ago to $620 a tire?

few more pics of some 42x15x15 rockers...

Had em for a couple runs so far, one in the rocks, one in the snow, worked great in both cases. Balanced with air soft bb's, rode SOOOOOOO much better than the TSL's on the highway (TSL's were balanced with bb's also)

in the first pic don't use the blazer in the background as point of reference it isn't level...

blazer pic is at about 10 psi (sidewalls are pretty stiff)

Jevy pic is at 4 or 5 psi.

stuck sitting here

the owner does say they drive pretty good on the road. but in the soft stuff here they pack up and lose all traction.

did he air down??? from the looks of that, i would blame it on driver error and not the tires...lol...i had a similar situation...mine was due to too much air and lack of momentum...

not driver error.we tried aired down aired up etc.they just flat didnt work.places where the rigs with tsls could idle threw in 2wd he needed 4wd and lots of wheel speed to keep moving.they seem to be more of a aggressive allterain than a mud type tire.
on the rocks i hear they are a very very good tire but if you plan to run thick mud they just dont cut it.

When I was doing research I heard that they didn't do that well in mud. The Maddogs are designed for the mud and the Rockers as the name implies are made for crawling. I mostly play in the snow so neither one fit what I needed. I may conisder the Growler next set.

gotcha...airin up wouldnt have helped tho...once i aired down from 32psi to 10psi, i went thru stuff n 2hi tha i previously needed 4lo to get thru...good thing is u werent alone...im running 36x14.50x15 parnelli jones which r prolly n the same catergory as the rockers as far as an aggressive a/t...that is until i aired em way down then as stated above, i walked thru stuff...but ever terrain is different...

So what is the actual diamater of the 42" rockers? And so Horton never broke anything with the 42's?

how many bb's did you use to balance em? or how much weight?

I broke one stub shaft and one hub with the 42s all stock stuff. My count with the 44s is 4 stub shafts one inner on each side 3 hubs and one spindle. 1 of the stubs was a 35 spline,

BTW I have had my rockers in snow and well they rocked, no one could even come close to me. They blew me away in the snow.

I have had them in mud too and I thought they did awesome. I have never run boggers but I was keeping up with the trucks with boggers just fine and out doing several trucks on regular TSLs

i heard the same, they were said to be better then a tsl in the mud by someone who had ran both.

although I have a hard time comparing them to my old swampers because they were different sizes, I have had TSLs and Iroks and I think my rockers do better in the mud than both
