Plans for 14FF?? Gear change...

    Hey. A plan is formulating in my mind after reading a post about converting a 14FF to 6 lug. I guess this is possible and not too tough by the looks of Mudzers setup. If I do this, I can use the front D44 with the 6 lug spindle ends on it and keep my TruTrac and 4:56s. Now for the question: The 3/4T 14FF I have is (I believe) 4:10 ratio... do I have to change the carrier or anything to be able to swap to 4:56? My plan would be to swap in the 4:56s and weld it, then go with the disc brakes all with being able to run my 6 lug 15" wheels with my current 35s. Sound plausible? Any unforeseen problems?

    Carrier break for the 14 bolt is at 4.10/4.56.
    You can either get a new carrier or buy a special 'thick' gear set.
    There is nothing wrong with using the thick gearset - you are not compromising strength in any way. But they are a little more $$.
