Possible 208 SYE plans

Yeah I know, I have been under the weather for 6 days, not bad enough to keep me in bed, just bad enough everytime I go to the garage I can't do anything productive, today is the first day my fever dropped to 98, so I have been getting a few items that I sold packaged and I will be tackling this, today I cut the shaft, and find out exactly the length of the housing and maybe even cut it too.
The hardest part for the prototype will be the drilling of the hole.
Once I do the production it will be on a lathe.

No worries. Didn't realize you were STILL sick. I'm still debating wether to SYE the 208 or drop in a 205.

I want a 208 for the better gearing.
It's strong enough for what I do, and the extra gearing makes it that I don't need a doubler between having a NV4500, a diesel engine and a 208, I am good.:thumb:
 
Me too. Mine will be a DD mostly. The once a year trip to Moab for 1-2 days don't require the beefiest equipment

Will a drill bushing help? Something that slips over the shaft with a hole in the center and thick enough to keep your hand drill straight while hand drilling. Do you have a drill press? That would be even better.

I do have a drill press, a big one.
With a drill bushing I could drill thru a 4' tall shaft.
Can you make me that bushing?
My thought was to get the prototype done since I am keeping that one, it doesn't matter how nice the bolt hole is, and then have you do the production, since machining the lip on the housing for the seal will need your work, but with the bushing I could do the shafts, and you could do the tails.:dunno:
I hopefully should be making a trip up your way next week, we can talk then.

I'll pass on the beer this time, I drew out for a muzzleloader Bull Elk tag that I've been applying for the last twelve years and I'm trying to get in shape for the hunt:D :woot:

OK, good because I wouldn't be able to share with you anyway when I am driving.:pimp:
 
Just finished my swap to tons...and now I really need a new driveshaft. The pinion is just a bit lower on the 14BFF and even with the spring perches cut and the pinion angle corrected it vibrates at speed. I either need a temporary double cardan shaft or your kit...soon.

Any idea yet how soon you will have the first one for sale? I'd rather send you some business than some bigger company, but time is becoming more important now. I would like to see some pics and prices soon if you can.

Well I was supposed to go this past week to the Machinist, but didn't finish fixing my trailer, I will see if I can get it done here quick, otherwise it's going to be mid next week before I get to the machinist, if you can wait that long, then I can commit to that date, if you need it earlier than mid next week then go and get what you need.

Well, my rig just bought me some time to wait for your set up. I just went to get the AC charged and found a leaking condenser and my water pump decided to start leaking at the same time. :doah:

After a condenser, accumulator, AC charge, and now a water pump...I'll see what cash I have left for dirveline mods.

Any pics yet?
 
Any progress on the 208 SYE? I have my 465 and np208 on the bench now and would love to give it a try!
 
Did you ever get anywhere with these? a new build plan may require a np208 with fixed rear yoke. Just wondering if you are still planning on building these? If not is there any way you could pm me the build plans so I can try and tackle my own?
