I have run into a problem trying to install a DIN style head unit into the dash of a 78. The problem occurs because the 78 bezel has a raised trim surrounding the stock radio mounting area. I can cut the bezel up to this trim, which is just enough to slide the mounting sleeve into the bezel, but the head unit will not fit flush against the face of the bezel. It hits this raised trim area.

I am at the point of considering just mounting the head unit in the console or trying to swap in a later model dash bezel (and padded dash). Does anyone know if a mid 80s dash pad and bezel will bolt into my 78?

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I installed mine behind the plastic cover so the face of the deck is even with the bezel..... I'm planning to make a billet cover for the deck and the Headlight switch....... If I can use a friends digital I'll take some pic's....
