Project 82 TCBF -10.13.9 - progress!!!

Yeah, maybe a scruffy D60 "core"...

Take another look at MuddinManny's thread for a recent example of what a D60 really costs. The acqusition cost of a D60 is merely the beginning of what gets spent to make it "ready".

Nothing wrong with going 8-lug as a transitional phase. It allows you to get the wheels you'll need anyway, and helps spread the costs out a little. Plus, once you're done with those 8-lug spindles, you can sell them for what you paid (usually)....

:usaflag:
Exactly Greg..D60s can get real expensive. Sure I could get a 60 for double what it would cost to regear my 10b, but that will most likely be one that will need a lot of work/parts/money to be able to put it in...Thats a good way to think of it Greg.

i agree, convert to 8lug, and then take ur time with the 60. if the 8lug stuff is in good condition, you should be able to get most of your money back when you sell it once the 60 is ready to go. if you try to rush the 60, you might regret not using some parts due to cost. but if you take your time you'll be the most happy with it.

Alright, today was a little cold, and I didn`t have to work until 4PM, so I went out and did a little work. I still have to fix my P/S line and flush the system, but I need a second hand, so I`ll have to wait.

I decided to go ahead and get the sway bar out of the way. So, with a little persuasion, I got the old one out, and put the new one in with new bushings all around, as well as ORD discos.

I didnt get intalled pics, but heres what went in:

ORD Discos

and the spare sway bar I had, which I rebuilt with new bushings all around

How bad was that sway bar disconnect to install? I might do one myself, but I'm not sure if I even need a sway bar with a 12" lift; might improve my ride a little if I took it off. I've just heard that those big 1-1/8" (I think that's the size) bolts on the sway bars can be a real pain to get off sometimes.

with a 1/2 inch breaker bar, you shouldn`t have a problem;)

I disagree...

 I couldn't budge mine no matter what i threw at it; impact gun, breaker bar, breaker bar with a pipe extension, every penetrating oil I could get.

BTW: Ben, ya you should be fine with a front 10bolt with 8 lug outers. I mean I haven't broke anything and I know you drive more conservatively than I do. :D

ditto on the bolts...thats why my sway bar went back on...
I tried to get that 1 1/8" bolt off and I couldn't get it to budge...I ripped the corner of my vise out of the table even...

Finished painting my supension stuff this morning. I`m pretty happy to get it done....

Here`s the shackle flip with backing plates and supplied bolts...Kert really does some good work, thanks again Kert!:waytogo: For paint, I went with Rustoleum`s Hammertone Grey, and I am very pleased with the way it came out.

Here you see my zeros and shackles and supplied hardware. For this, I just went with a basic satin black, keeping it simple. BTW, these shackles are sweet! Nice and strong, ready to take some abuse!

Overall, I`m pleased with the way things are coming out thus far....

cool...have fun popping out those rivets for the flip :) Keep us posted...

Oh look! Centering pins...rofl

:haha: :rotfl:

And Avery, those rivets aren't bad at all with an air chisel.

Those rivets aren't that bad when you cross cut the heads with a cutoff wheel either. That and a hammer and chisel is how I removed all of mine.

not trying to be a negative nancy but do you wheel/break your front enough to justify a d60? i thought i would need one, but i just cant seem to justify it. just keep an eye on ujoints and clean out hubs every once and a while and im sure the 10b wont break as much

Simple answer, no. But if you`re someone who likes the piece of mind, then yes. But, I will more than likely be running an 8 lug 10b front for sometime......
