I will be there, but not my truck. While it may actually be fairly mobile by then, it will still need some more work before I can take it out and about yet. Needs sliders, bumpers, exhaust, cooling fans etc done before then. Maybe 2019?
Nice, it's better to test it close to home too. It looks killer. Are you racing or just crewing?
This year I'm pit crew. Probably won't be in the race car again any time soon as I've moved 300 miles away from the city where the race team is based out of.

I'm so jealous. I thought about building an Escalade rock crawler before settling on a Blazer. Nothing like running Spring Creek in Colorado with butt warmers ;-)
I also wanted to machine a custom set of beadlock spinners, haha. What's more absurd than an Escalade out-wheeling Jeeps? Arriving at the top of the trail with spinners.

Not a huge ton of progress the past couple of weeks. My wife has been needing lots of us time and she takes priority over the truck.
That said, I have fixed the fuel gauge, finished installing the espar heater control head into the dash, installed the electric fans and also started mounting the HAM radio.
Still on the list is a relocated windshield washer fluid bottle, re-wire a relay under the under-hood fuse block, install onboard air system, bumpers, exhaust, sliders, upgrade the steering box, add an assist ram and extend the rear driveshaft.
My wife is out of town for the week, so I am going to blitz on it and get as much done as I can before I haul it down to the fabricator to get the rest of the work done.

Wow just wow, very nice work
Just figured I would give a quick update on the Escalade.
I've installed most of the onboard air system, electric fans and the communications equipment recently. I also just dropped it off with a fabrication shop to get the bumpers fitted and installed, the rocker sliders reinstalled and the exhaust fabricated. I expect to pick it up within the next month or so.
Still to be completed includes:
1. Install the PSC steering box, assist ram and pump kit I just ordered up
2. Install the OBA volume tank and wiring and run an air hose to the front locker
3. Install a switch panel to control the front ARB locker, compressor, electric fans and forward facing lighting
4. Add a relay to give the PCM control over the FICM power to clear a DTC
5. Fabricate brackets to hold the ABS sensors near to the frame to trick them into thinking all is well. Disconnect the speed sensor input to the ABS module and put a resistor in it's place. This way the ABS module will think the vehicle is always stationary and it will also clear the ABS / braking system codes and alarms.
6. Replace the windshield
7. Replace the rear brakes with stock 14 bolt disc brake assemblies in place of the current 10 bolt calipers to add a parking brake
8. Install the rear ARB locker I just ordered to match the front.
9. Source and install a replacement windshield washer bottle into the DS battery tray.
10. Re-locate the battery to the frame rail out back where the spare tire used to hang.
11. Install front sway bar and re-connect the rear sway bar
I have a wheeling trip booked for August 24th-26th, so if all goes well that should be my maiden voyage!

Please do a detailed write up on your abs sensor ordeal. I'd really like to know what u will do. Mines been a real hassle over the years. By the way, this is coming along pretty awesome...cheers for the diesel manual trans install.
Can't you just remove the abs system, or does the computer need it to work properly?
The instrument cluster defaults to activating the ABS light, brake light, service brake system alarm and related audible alarm unless it hears from the ABS module that all is well. You can't just remove the ABS module or pull it's fuse.
My plan is to make brackets to space the sensors just far enough from the frame to satisfy the sensor air gap voltage diagnostic checks then disconnect the VSS signal into the ABS module and install a resistor to fool it into thinking it is still connected. As far as the module is concerned, the vehicle will always be sitting still. This should clear the warning lights, messages and audible alarms. Most folks just install newer axles with sensors and hook the ABS up.
