can someone please expain the proper way? thanx
What year 10 bolt is it? If it's a newer model, say from 84 up, this is what the Haynes manual says. Using a torque wrench and the spanner, or the "special socket", rotate the wheel. Tighten the adjusting nut to 50 ft-lbs, then back the nut off 90-degrees. Then while still rotating the wheel, retighten the nut to 35 ft-lbs and back it off 3/8-turn. If the axle has a cotter pin or key, install it after you line up the locknut to the nearest slot. If not, install the drag sleeve washer on the axle and against the inner nut with the tang in the keyway. Install the inner nut pin. Then install the outer locknut. Tighten locknut between 160 and 205 ft-lbs.
Hope this helps.
