pulling tranny... need things to spin.. lol

pulling my 700R4. Current situation: Tcase is gone, dip stick gone, cable that went to the carb gone... trying to ubolt the TC from the flywheel. I have access to 1 bolt... how do I get things to spin so I can get to the rest? yes, I'm aware this is a dumb question. lol!

also, I'm going with a full manual th400... does that mean all these stupid cables / wires going from the trans to the carb etc will no longer be needed? Hope not, they are routed in such a way as to be a total PITA to get at. lol!

haha i think there was just a thread on this... ur gonna just have to put a box wrench on it.. and just pull down.. or push up and turn the engine over.. thats what i did.. takes a lil bit of effort but it is easy to turn. Then to get them off.. just keep the closed end of the box wrench on there.. and hit the wrench w/ a hammer.. this will sorta impact the bolt off w/ out spining everything.

i used one of these. grabs on to the teeth of the plate and allows you to move spin it. this was on summit but iam sure you can get them at and autoparts store.

i just used some rope threaded through a hole in the flex plate and pulled it to turn the engine over

Yeah, just use a pry bar and push up on the teeth and it will go.

I just used a rag to protect my hand from the teeth, then just turn it. Isnt that hard.

Pull the sparkplugs, and the engine turns over ALOT easier.

yeppers, got it all figured out. I took a crowbar, with the end wrapped in a rag, stuffed it between the flywheel and the inner lip of the trans. Little pressure and it was enough that I could spin the bolts out. Thanks again for the tips guys, my trans is safe and sound on my garage floor now.
