Hi there!

It is a long story, but I need to know if the LMC headliner:

http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/csb/full.aspx?Page=113

has a cutout for the front center console (overhead)? Or if it is a solid piece in the front? I know it is a 2 piece unit, and that it works with rear A/C (which I have).

But I cannot use a stock piece of cardboard, because I cut a huge hole in my roof, and mounted a Westfalia camper top on my truck. So I am wondering if I could make the LMC unit work.

Anyone have any pictures of one? I have seen some installed, but it is hard to tell exactly how they did it.

Thanks very much in advance.

i wish i could help man, i've got no experience with LMC's headliners. i saw your rig over on expo, i like the westfalia top. try asking in the suburban forum or even out in the garage, you'll get more traffic there.

For what it is worth, I called them and after a lot of back and forth, they said that it is NOT cut for the console. But I haven't ordered one yet. :)

Cool, I'm glad they were able to help you out. LMC has always been helpful when I e called them.

Has anyone actually used one of these? Just curious because my headliner is in need of repair. I don't have rear AC and was wondering what the difference would be since there is no headliner for a non AC Suburban. May be a mute point anyways. I have wire brushed the back board on the current one and installing some head liner material from JoAnnes Fabrics. Hope it works but it would be nice to know if there is another option just in case.

Here's a site for headliners...clicky

I saw an article on retro install overhead console. It was a simple thing, much easier than it sounds. You can search for it on the web.

And as far as LMC, I haven't dealt with them.

Thanks for the link. Is the retro install to put in an AC unit? I see the link says that headliner is for rear AC units as well.

No. It was installing the front overhead console. The headliner for 'burbs comes in 2 pieces. The site I linked, looks like they only sell rear a/c equipped models.

As for the rear a/c install, I had a derelict 86 I "back robbed" the a/c bits from. Took measurements and tabs etc. as I took it apart.

As for the front console, it comes in 2 pieces. The mounting frame, which attaches to the roof, and the console itself which attaches to the frame. The front haedliner needs trimmed so the mounting frame can poke through.

Here's a nice how to install for the overhead console. click

I put one in my burb. Really nice! There are no holes cut out in the center for dome lights /consoles.

Do you have any pics? I am curious about how the AC console fits into the scenario. I don't recall ever seeing one.

If ya'll are not in a rush, I'll dig my junk out and take some pics for. I've been putting it all off too long anyways.:waytogo:

here's the rear a/c piece.
