questions about 700r4 TV operation

i need someone to try and explain to me- in layman's terms- how the TV in the 700r4 trannies works,

does the tranny hold gears and shift firmer the farther the cable is pulled, or ??

if so then how do you explain that the tranny will hold a gear for a very long time and will make the shift very hard when the cable is disconnected


i dont understand it

also can you replace a 700r4 cable with trans in vehicle and without removing the pan? has anyone done this ? is it possible to do ?

i need tips/info

can someone please explain to me on an 88 700r4 trans how in the heck to keep the cable and the TV rod link together when replacing the cable ??

what is the trick ? it is impossible! it just falls apart as soon as you let go ?

do i need to weld the damn cable to the link or what ??

got it.... finally,, had to have someone pull the cable taught while i was underneath keeping cable end on the damn Tv link rod.,.,

that was fun....

the new one is identical ot the original one

so i dunno ??


the sheath is completely back all the way, and the throttle will go WOT

Have a look at the tv101 article (tab at the top of the page). It is really useful and easy to understand. Never fitted a cable on mine so can't say!
