Questions - NP241 tcase & swapping inputs

I have a 90 burb with a 400/241 combo and the 241 needs rebuilt or replaced. I could get a 27-spline 241 cheap and easy.

I'm wondering if it is pretty simple to just swap the inputs?

Is it one of those procedures where I have to tear so much apart it would be better just to rebuild the 32-spline case?
