I never had a truck winch before so I got a stupit question what is the little handle for coming out of the bumper.is it some type of release for it.its not working as of the moment and plan on working on it to get it going .the connection for the control handle needs some cleaning so maybe that's why its not working.thanks for some advise

It should be the free spool. Is there tension on the cable while you are trying it? If there is you need to release the tension before it will work.

Ok .I'm out now and see if I can get it to free spool.

So I got it to pull out some(free spool) and cleaned up everything now I got power and it sounds like some clicking going on when I put the winch in forward or reverse.
