I've got a new/used 350 to drop into my project and am going to tear it down to a short block and regasket it all...

My question is this... I dont have to remove the crank to replace the main seals on the front n rear of the crank do I ??

Depends on if it is a 2 piece or 1 piece seal.
On the 2 piece, no, 1 piece yes.

They didn't start using 1-piece seals till '87.

Even with a 2 piece rear main you do not have to remove the crank to replace the rear seal. Just remove the rear main bearing cap, and you can push the top half of the seal around the crank to get it out.

Actually the one piece seals started in '86. Either way you don't have to remove the crank shaft to relpace the rear main seal. For the two piece design you will have to remove the oil pump and the rear main cap. The front seal is in the timing cover.
