This poll is to see how much interest there would be for a ready made rear crossmember on a K5 so that a truck cab could be mounted. Made one for the first Trazer already. The CUCV Blazer is next and it sure would be nice if there was a ready made option out there. Talking to Kert at DIY4X about making and selling these. I know I would like one. Any ideas out there about how you would like to see it done? One idea I had was to have a front mount for the rear flat bed integrated into it. Thoughts?

Also, is there anyone near DIY4X that would be willing to donate a frame for the prototype?

There is either not much interest or not many people have searched "trazer" like i did. I would also be interested as my K5 has a lot of rust and it would be easier to just put a c10/k10 cab on it with a flat bed. One of the things holding me up (besides not having any time) is how to do the rear crossmember/cab mount. I agree it would be nice if someone out there made one with a front section for a flatbed to be mounted to, and Kert does make great things.

Judging by your sig you have a 75 K5, if thats the case you don't need a crossmember the cab will bolt right up

x2 on the good to knowl

This was going to happen on a 84 M1009 though. Then I sold it the other day to trim down the fleet and somehow today I ended up with a 93 crewcab w. a 6.5L and the NV4500:rolleyes:.

Yeah the 73-77 frames will accept a pickup cab with no modifications. 78 and newer is when they added the rear passenger footwell so the frames are a little different. This is very easy to do if you have a rear cab mount crossmember from a pickup (like I did) A future add on could be a DIY4X bolt together flatbed kit

EDIT: Also, where's the Bacon and/or Nekkid option???

Bacon.

Remember the dog food commercial where the dog is running around saying he smells bacon. It might have been for kibbles and bits. That is what I think of everytime I see that word. Talk about effective advertising. That commercial must have been on about 20 years ago.

The crew cab is kind of a big rig. With a wife and three kids, seating options start narrowing down. The idea is to have a truck that can haul everyone and the ATV and still get decent mileage. This fit the bill. And the price was right.

Kinda feel like I won in the vehicle trade dept. for a change. Sold a rusty M1009 that needed more time and bodywork than I have to give and found a clean, rust free, southern, crew cab truck that fits the family's needs better.
