anyone know? I know the front may be a 10 or 32. how bout the rear output.
They are 32 splines.
All NP205's have 32 spline outputs for the rear, including the 10-spline (front) manual-equipped ones???
32 spline. What I find annoying is that Furds 205s often have 32-spline front outputs while a lot of chev ones are 10. /forums/images/icons/frown.gif
All: Rears are 32.
All Ford: Fronts are 32 (IIRC)
Chevy: 10 and 30 spline fronts.
Dodge: Who the heck knows /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
The Chevy front output 10 splines were in the first design trucks, which run up to '76.
'77 and newer t-cases have the 30 spline front output shafts.
another question. are front outputs 30 or 32s?? i have a tcase at home and i can put the same flat flange on front and back outputs.
You can swap in a Ford 32 spline front output shaft into a Chevy case (that is what I did, see my pics section.....it's in there somewhere). I'm assuming you have a front 32 if you can swap yokes front to back. Normally Chevy had 10 or 30 spline (there is a rumor that they may have had 32 from factory but I never have seen one).
The difference is whether you have a manual transmission or an automatic. My '79 NP205/465 combo had the 10- spline input shaft while my new input shaft, to fit my TH400 had the 32-spline shaft. I ordered the input shaft and all parts from www.4xheaven.com in NY and they gave me everthing I needed as well as a great deal of infromation on the cases. Hope this helps, Gary
You are right, but that is concerning the front INPUT shaft (which you are correct in the older 205's as the manual had the 10 spline input shaft, the 350 auto had 27, and the 400 had 32 spline female IIRC, but the newer 205 the manual trannys used a 32 spline input as well), I was describing the front OUTPUT shaft in my earlier posts. Just wanted to keep people from getting confused....as I often do /forums/images/icons/blush.gif.
