like the title says...i'm looking at 2 post lifts..i would like to hear of any tales you have on these type lifts....like what problems you have had or lack of troubles. i will have to put this outside of my shop on concrete footers. is there certain brands that may be more suited for this?

I can tell you from experience that both uprights MUST be on the same slab of concrete. Also make sure you buy an asymetrical lift so that you're able to open the door once you're between the posts. With a symetrical lift it is very hard to get in/out of the door once the vehicle is positioned properly.

so i need to pour 1 footing wide enough for both posts..that makes sense thanks scott, i was thinking of 2 footings, 1 on either side.

Yes, a single footing that both posts will mount to. My partner in his infamous wisdom thought it would be a good idea to just pour a pad for each post and then after a short time the post started leaning and I almost lost my rig and probably my life, guess I was lucky.

and if me yes a-symetrical is better for door opening. but this would be the lift i would buy . cant find it on there site. but thay had a lift marketed specificly for hummers. 12-14" wider between the posts and 12k capacity . model # spo12-hmreh1 . used that style lift at old shop and loved it. here is one on ebay ya pricey over regular but the extra wide spacing realy works for big lifted tall tire trucks. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Rota...Z260474704536QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools

if simple choice then this 10k lift would work good for you. used this style also and even picked crew cabs on it. but gets to the end of its limits. http://www.rotarylift.com/templateProduct.aspx?id=732

i have an asymetric 10k rotary lift at my auto shop and ive picked up everything with it like crew cab long bed Powerjokes, crew cab long bed Cummins, duallies. utility trucks just about anything that fits in the door and doesnt rock too much on the arms.. hahaha

probly not the best idea! the only problem ive ever had was one cable to release the safty latch broke, and one arm is slightly bent but other than that its perfect.

I'll add another vote for Rotary's, the Ford dealer I used to work at changed over to Rotary's while I was there and we loved them. They have held up very well, I left there 10 years ago but still stop in , I believe they are all still the same ones installed approx 14 years ago. As far as being outside, can't offer up any info/ suggestions on that.
