Hi there!

I need recommendations for shipping a rim set from sneads ferry, NC 28460 to Wichita, KS 67114. Oferred price from UPS ground is 200$ in the moment...

I appreciate every hint:::::::ben:::::::bow:

Find some rim boxes for them. Hit up your local tire shops for the cardboard boxes that wheels come in. Unless you have an odd size that shouldn't be too hard.

Then try and either tape them together or insert them into two larger boxes. I know with UPS you get a better rate for two heavier boxes than four lighter boxes.
Also see if the receiver can get them delivered to him at a commercial address. That should cut down on shipping costs too.

Might want to insure them though. Doesn't matter what you write on the box, "Bobby Ray" in the back of that semi at 4am doesn't care so long as he moves the box off the truck. Handle with care doesn't apply.

get quote from ups, then go to dhl, ask if they can beat the price, if they do,..take that back to ups and ask if they can beat dhl's price, if so take lowest bid to fed-ex ask them to beat lowest price, make them want your business...w/usps,ups,dhl, and fed ex, you should be able to compete them side by side and stir up a price ''war''...then settle on a winner!

Eh, I'd be skeptical of them bartering or trying to beat other places prices.

While back I was trying to ship something for a guy and he was adamant on using DHL as his business had an account with them. They wanted like 15% more than UPS for the same level of service. I told them as much and basically got a "so you want to ship it or not?" I said not and shipped it UPS and saved the guy 15%.
Especially with the recent fuel surcharge increases I doubt they can play much. Not everyone will "dicker".

DHL is cheaper for us day in and day out.

You're probably closer to a hub than we are.

Fancy nice rims, or basic old beaters? If the latter, wrap 'em in plastic sheeting, like they use on pallets at Costco, put a label on each, and out they go. New/nice ones obviously need boxes to protect from scratching.

I'm a big fan of Fedex Ground, myself, but as mentioned I don't see pricematching gonna happen.

Put up the dimensions and weight of one rim and we can juggle you some numbers, see if you're getting screwed.

As AJMBLAZER stated box the rims 2 to a box ,it will be cheaper for two boxes than four ????
I just shipped 4 16x10 steel rims UPS for around $100

Thanx alot for the hints! The best was to make it two bigger packs instead of four small. That saved me 40$... not to bad!

Well thanx again!

If anybody needs something shipped from Germany, I'll be happy to help.
