Today marks the one year anniversary of the day we all lost our friend Jason Payne.... :( A fellow wheeler, CK5'er and good friend.

I can remember sitting in front of my computer, absolutely numb as I read the news over and over. Not believing that it could really have happened. Even now, it seems more like a bad dream than reality.

I thought I'd post up a few lost photos as my own sort of "Nilla Wafers and Root Beer" toast to a guy with unlimited energy, talent and potential.

Wheel in Peace, Jason...... we all miss you here.

:usaflag:

I didnt know him. But I knew enough about him to respect him.

I know what its like to lose a close friend.
My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Rock on, younger brother! Can't believe its been a year already! Don't know when my time is up on this Earth but I'm looking forward to finally meeting with you on the other side some day....

Greg,

That was a really classy thing to do!

X's a million.

I never thought I talked to him at all but I found one of my threads on something I machined up and in that thread he posted up and asked some questions about what I had machined. After his passing I read several times over, realizing I HAD chatted with him, I thought that was pretty cool. I also realized I could never again, that was a pretty sad thought indeed. Wheel on Jason.

You know the rig he built for God has got to be BAD ASS.

How about we see how many pictures we can come up with... Here's to you, Jason

Remember the Uber hitch that weight like 100+ lbs and had some 18" or so of drop that someone stole off the white truck back when it was a work truck/ wheeler?
Thats probably my most memory story of J's, reading about that on ORC years ago. He even hosted a few videos of mine on his server for a bit. Between him and ShaggyK5 they got me more into the wheeling and less of the perdy paint and body BS. Root Beer toast in recognition on J, you will always be remembered.

edit: ironically enough before even realizing the day it was I put on my IOR remembrance T-shirt this morning. Speaking of which its getting kinda worn, are these still avaliable?

Jason's family should take comfort in knowing that Jason touched so many people in this 4 wheeling community without ever have met them.

His fab skills and willingness to share ideas and help others on this forum are a testament to how much he loved this crazy group of people on this website.

To Jason's family,,may your hearts be lifted by the fact that so many
were touched by Jason in ways that you will never know.

God's peace my brother...

I never met him in person but was inspired every time he posted up about his build. It says alot about a guy when people from all over the country and world know of him and his work. I know I will never forget how his creativity and imagination inspired me and how I look at 4x4s.

It's been one year today and it has been pure hell. I cry a lot and find myself with tears in my eyes pretty much every day. I've been helped by many of J's friends throughout this year and want to thank everyone. My oldest Son Ken has helped a lot and I want him to know I love him and his family and really want to get even closer. I remember what J said to me just prior to his Rubicon trip: "It's not good for a parent to be too close to their kids; you never know what can happen". Did Jason know something, we will never know until we see him again and have the opportunity to talk to him once again.

We just want to thank everyone; we are staying at the coast with Martin and Patti Croad this weekend. They were both Jason's bosses and second parents and have missed him just like us and others.
We are meeting Jason's friend Fred Williams from 4 Wheel and Off-Road next weekend for a photo shoot and Fred will be doing a story about the completion of Jason's project of love. Debbie met one of the guys on the Quick Silver surfer modeling team and I suggested the use of the truggy in one of the ads, who know, they may like the idea of a big camo rock star limo in one of the ads!

For you that don't know our J very much, go to www.gmfullsize.com and they have created a forum dedicated to J.

I looked at his memorial stickers on my K5 the other day and was thinking about him. My deepest condolences to you sir. Your son inspired and touched the lives of many. In my line of work you see death everyday and eventually it seems you grow numb too it, but to read about a man who was so talented and who so loved life is deeply tear jerking. Are prayers are with you

For the past hour I've been browsing thru the posts on various websites to try and catch the full story (as I never heard it), but with no luck. If anybody has a link or wouldn't mind shooting me PM I would greatly appreciate

Have fun; some great reading!

Did a little stereo work today and got to thinking. I always buy round speakers. Why? Jason told me to. His logic worked for me and I've been using it ever since.
Whenever I had stereo troubles or questions I'd just PM him through the Off-Road.com/Chevy forum even after I had sold my Blazer and hadn't had a GM for several years.

Hehehehe...the stocker picture always reminds me of the poo incident...:haha::haha:
