Removing Kingpins EFFIN sucks

This is what i did to get my kingpin out.

-Get a 4 inch angle grinder and a very thin cutting disc. Cut a deep groove all the way around the kingpin that goes to the shank. Make cut ALMOST to the underside of the kingpin head where the kingpin touches the C
Once cut is made (about 3/8" deep), take 7/8" chisel, put 7/8" boxed end wrench on the chisel, insert chisel in kingpin upside down, put a 1 1/4" wrench over the open end of the 7/8" wrench and give a small tug. It will break loose.
Total time takes about 5 minutes per kingpin.
No heat, no broken tools.

This works real well.

About 3 weeks ago I did a ball jointed D60 ford in 5 and a half hours at work. Unitized bearings bring major suck

This is by far the easiest way, By making the cut your realeasing the seet pressure of the bearing contact area on the King pin and the "C". It take almost no major force to remove after that.

The thing I liked the best is not having to use heat. Plus the ease of it.

Agreed, I dont think heat is the way to go, It might work but I would not want it to affect the heat treat of the C. It might not but I wouldn't want to take the chance.
