Hey guys, just looking for a little advice here

My brother has a 94 4Runner that he is trying to get to pass an out of province inspection...

They failed him because the rear passenger side door weatherstripping is falling off (only about a 1' section) and has a crack in it.

Rather than replace the whole thing, can a guy just fix it with some sort of glue? Most of the plastic anchors are there and still intact, I'm just wondering about the crack. Would crazy glue work?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

I'd use "Shoe Goop",it works well on rubber and stays flexible--if it'll hold up to use on a shoe it'll work on weatherstrippping, its good stuff..I ever "sealed" some badly dry rotted garden tractor tires on the inside with that stuff after buffing them with a wire brush, and they hold air fine again..

3M "Super Weatherstrip Adhesive" is another good glue for that purpose!..

Sounds like you need to find a less anal "inspector" Too!..

thanks diesel, good advice. My bro went today to a nearby Canadian Tire store to look for a weatherstrip adhesive equivalent to 3M. He was thinking even a black or clear RTV sealant would work just fine. We'll see

i use shoe goo for everything rubber that i need to bond together.its strong and pliable and dries smooth wherever you put it.ive used it for years and its good stuff.it makes my sk8 shoes last twice as long.im sure black rtv would work also if you cant find the 3m.
