Ridiculously expensive transmission mounts?

For what year? Assuming you know you have a 1984 or earlier 205, then you have the right one. 1985 or later (whether 208, 241, or 205) that's the wrong ones.

Can't recall what I paid, but it took a bit to find the right one as they list it for later trucks.

And yes, as I recall, it was kind of pricey.

I am not the only one who has not had good luck with the cheap aftermarket motor/trans mounts. They come apart WAY too fast. GM ones that were ~20 years old looked better than the aftermarkets I pulled after ~5 years.

Those look the same as the ones on my truck? Are there different ones that look similar?

I have an sm465 and np208

the early tall adaptor 1984ish and back with flat crossmember used those.

then in 1985ish the W series or single / double hump crossmembers with short adaptors used the big single bar mount. best to verify yours. as lots of our old rigs and mix-n-match these days .

but if I recall first few years of 465/208 did have tall adaptor.

and stock rubber mounts these days off the counter are all over sea's made junk. I have read lots of guys redoing engine and tranny mounts few months later.

I run poly and never look back . do it once and be done I say .

I get most my poly mounts off ebay salses of people who parted out a project and I get them close to 1/2 price . but I have time to wait and find deals .

Rubber mounts get squishy and useless when oil leaks on them. Good enough reason for me to switch to poly. Also make sure the type of mount you use on the transmission matches what you use on your motor mounts.

Why is it important they match? I didn't have any immediate plans to change motor mounts.

Because of your motor twist on the rubber mounts while the transmission is held firm then something will eventually break.

well, as long as the motor mounts are stronger than the trans mount. I've got poly up front, factory rubber @ crossmember

I'll second the motor mounts must be same or equal "strength" as trans. Motor moving up front is amplified at the rear.

This is the right one for our short adapter FWIW: Energy Suspension 3.1129G ~$48 on Amazon. This is one of those buy once, never again items.

x2, Ive got a truck that Ive had 8 years with 4 different motors and still the same poly engine mounts that are as good as the day they were installed. Then I have another truck that the engine and tranny mounts are factory rubber style and they fell apart after a year.

Oh, and I have a sm465/np208 combo with the factory tall adapter that uses flat crossmember and those style mounts but I have no idea what it came from.
