I have a trip planned to Lexington, Kentucy (wedding) later this year. What is Highway 60 like from Springfield to the state line? MapQuest says go to St. Louis and take I-64. What do you guys think?

It is a very scenic drive. As far as the road goes it is about 50% 4 lane and the rest is good 2 lane. I personally drive that way each time I go to Florida. In your case I think it would be much quicker and definately a lot less miles. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Steve,
Thanks for the come back! It sure looks shorter by eyeing the map. Maybe the only downer is the road from the state line in to Lexington looks to be a toll road. I have an e-mail in to the Kentucky state tourism office to find out about tolls and speed limits.

I always take 60 to I24 in Paducah, KY. The trip over the Mississippi the one mile in IL and then crossing the Ohio on another narrow bridge is worth the trip. Once in KY the distance to the Interstate is the slowest part of the trip.

Steve,
Thanks again. We will give this a try, at least one way. Maybe a side trip to St. Louis on the way back.
