This is wild. These guys based it on a 2015 Silverado...with IFS.
Never ever ever for me but quite impressive engineering.

To be fair trophy trucks aren't 4wd.Pretty certain the trophy trucks would disagree on that. And there is no better ride.
I couldn't agree more. It starts at $30,000 and fully equipped with the LT4 it's $103,000. That's a big check. This is a chassis for folks that write checks to get a truck built. They won’t wheel it. It’s just to look “vintage” but still have a pavement princess ride.
RoadsterShop also has their AS4 chassis already linked up. https://roadstershop.com/product/1973-87-k10/#engine-mount-optionsWaiting for the ORD sas kit lol
The winning ttophy trucks are now 4wd and the top teams are all switching over. They have figured out the CV angles and gearbox issues that allow travel and reliability. Check out Menzies truck it is bad ass and 4x4.To be fair trophy trucks aren't 4wd.
Some of the KOH guys have tried IFS , but most of them are rocking solid axles and still killing it in the whoops
as for the better ride, comparing a wore out old leaf spring truck to a modern IFS system yes the ride is better. But comparing a 2022 GM to a 2022 Ford or Dodge i'm gonna have to disagree. The ride isn't any better IMHO , and even if it was its not worth the sacrifices in turning radius and durability .
Here ya go!!If I could retrofit a newer chassis on a K5 I would love to. After going through everything to get a used truck to run you could be ahead with something like this and have a new chassis to start. I would prefer a straight axle for mine though. Something like the LT drive train with 05- newer Super Duty suspension / axles

Problem I have in spending that kind of dough on a chassis is I wouldn’t want to screw it up going off road. No more than I would want to take a brand new truck off road and beat up on it.
I can’t justify it.
As far as modern tech in the old platform it can totally be done but not in the seamless way the OEMs currently do it. There’s still issues getting all the individual systems to function that don’t talk to each other like a factory system works. I’m talking infotainment, memory functions, hvac, cameras all over for 360 degree view, etc.
I like my truck with the modern engine and electric controls but am ok not having a huge screen to look at for the radio and all the other controls. Crank windows, manual locks and some tunes with a rumbling big block to lay the background tones. Perfect road-trip ride for me. Though ac will be added to the mix. I’m a dinosaur I know.
