Hey CK5ers
I have access to a stock 73 and also an after market bar that is a little narrower. If I set the after mkt bar in the cab the mount plates are maybe 1-1.5 inches inside the walls and the bar is fairly low in relation to the roof. I want to keep the bar out of the way of passengers getting in or out so and I want raise the bar higher since it was designed for early truck with high floor.
I was contemplating adapting the aftermkt or the stock bar to bolt or weld in to the 90 deg corner "ledge" formed where the higher floor (that the seat bolts to) continues forward for 5 or so inches. I believe this is usually hidden by the side panels (don't have em) and directly under the ashtray. I figure a nice 1/4 triangle shaped plate here should hold pretty well. I just need to figure out how to get the vertical component of the bar to land where I want it. Has anybody done or seen this mounting style?
