roll cage vs exo cage

I would put a good internal cage.

1. The thing is so big already, you don't need an extra 4-6 inches of width
2. I don't care about body damage
3. Uses less steel than an exo of similar design because it only runs the width of the cab, not the body.

Just my thoughts and how I would go with it.

Exo is too heavy , for an already heavy truck , that will not like wheeling on 1/2 ton axles .

I will run 1/2 tons any day of the week in a light truck with someone who knows how to drive .

I will not advocate 1/2 tons in a Suburban , that sees real trail use that warrants a cage to begin with .

I am getting an interior cage becouse chicks dig body damage.
I have a hard enough time fitting the places I go so extruding tubing wont last too long for me

i talked this over with a guy that is going to build my cage for me and he said that if i wanted to be able to use the doors, there would be a serious lack of bracing for an exo cage. i decided to go with the internal.

Exo's are cool looking but they are alot harder to make strong and brace. Build a good solid interior cage first for safety. Then if you want to go from there you might build and exo for trail damage/obsticle protection.

i agree with all of what has been said but dang exos are awesome. i say build internal then exo later or if u wanna go hardcore build the exo and tie it to the body and frame(yeh ppl are gonna contradict hat but owell)

I went for an internal cage. I looked into an exo cage, but in between the front and back doors would be hard to place a bar without blocking the rear doors or being to far off the body.
