Silly question... If a cage is built to fit under a hard top, it should also fit a store bought soft top - right?

agreed if i where to make a cage it would be made around my soft top, then it would fit under my hard top as well. atleast on mine, softop is smaller by a bit than hardtop.
My cage is as close as 1/8 to my hard top at the B piller. Towards the back it has more clearence. The STC top I had cleared fine. If I made the cage that close to the soft top like I did the hard top, The hard top would'nt fit.
